Home Sweet Home

July 15, 2008

We’re moved into our new home. The 3- day drive out here was great, but we are relieved to be home at last. The kids have been great, and are enjoying being here. Our furniture made it the day after we arrived, which was a welcome surprise. We did have to stay at my parents’ house for two nights, but once we got the furniture in place and the bedding all washed, we were finally able to spend the night in our own home.

Most of the boxes are unpacked, and we are pretty close to fully functional. It is just taking some getting used to the house. The daily routine of waking up and showering, cooking and cleaning, etc., is slightly different because of the layout of the house, but we’ll establish a new routine soon. My mind is racing with how I want to decorate the house, but alas, it must wait; mostly because I have this impending Board exam to take, but also because I don’t want to commit to a certain décor right away.

So the exam . . . it is about three weeks away. Not since medical school have I been this stressed about an exam. I have been studying everyday (even while driving cross country–thank you Niels Jensen for the audio tutorial), but the move has been distracting, to say the least. Besides the big blow to my self esteem that would happen if I were to fail the exam, there is also the $1000 exam fee I would have to pay again. And who knows what my employer would say?

Overall, we are thrilled to be in our new house, and even more thrilled to be back “home.” Once the exam is over, I will be better able to enjoy our new surroundings. We welcome visitors form afar, and would love to catch up with old friends nearby.
